The story of the Musketeers is both simple and heartbreaking. In the mountains, we found a mother dog with her deceased newborn puppies who they had most likely frozen to death… Around her were five adolescent dogs, probably her older puppies from a previous litter. We named them after the heroes of The Three Musketeers.

Athos is incredibly beautiful, a hunting breed mix with long hound-like ears and a glossy black coat. He’s understandably rather and cautious around people. Athos is not yet leash trained and like his brother is just beginning to learn to trust. He has the same intelligence, curiosity, and a deep desire to bond with a human as Porthos.

With patience, love, and attention, he will quickly blossom into loyal and devoted companion, ready for adventures — just like his famous namesake.
