Chip is a one year old incredibly handsome boy with the sweetest heart. Life has not always been kind to him, so by nature he can be a little shy and fearful at first. But every single day, he is making amazing progress and slowly learning to trust again.

When Chip first arrived at the shelter, he was terrified of people. He had never worn a collar or harness, didn’t know how to walk on a leash, and was frightened of almost everything around him. Thanks to patience, love, and ongoing work with a professional trainer, Chip has come so far. He now enjoys his walks and calmly walks beside his person, discovering that the world is not as scary as he once believed.

One of the biggest comforts in Chip’s life is his enclosure companion, a beautiful German Shepherd named Mira. She gives him confidence and helps him feel safe every day. Because of this, Chip would thrive best in a home with another calm, friendly, and confident dog who can continue showing him the way. He absolutely loves other dogs and feels very secure around them.

Chip’s favorite thing is lying peacefully in the sunshine and simply enjoying quiet moments. Loud cars can still make him nervous, but his trainer continues helping him overcome those fears step by step.

Chip’s story began with hardship. He was found running alone through the hills — exhausted, starving, covered in scratches and ticks, and clearly carrying the pain of difficult experiences. Since arriving at the shelter, he has received all the medical care he needed and is finally beginning to feel safe, protected, and loved.

Chip does not need a perfect home. He needs a patient one.
A kind family willing to give him time, understanding, and gentle love will watch something truly beautiful happen: a scared dog slowly becoming happy again.
