The story of the Musketeers is both simple and heartbreaking. In the mountains, we found a mother dog with her deceased newborn puppies who had most likely frozen to death… Around her were five adolescent dogs, probably her older puppies from a previous litter. We named them after the heroes of The Three Musketeers.

Porthos is incredibly beautiful, a hunting breed mix with long hound-like ears and a warm brown shiny coat. He’s still a bit shy and cautious around people. Porthos is not yet leash trained and he is just beginning to learn to trust. In his eyes you can see intelligence, curiosity, and a deep desire to bond with a human.

With patience, love, and attention, he will quickly blossom into loyal and devoted companion, ready for adventures — just like his famous namesake.
