Pyla

Pyla is gentle, shy, loving and looking for her forever home

NAME: Pyla

DATE ADDED: 09/10/2026

AGE (when posted): 2 years old*

SEX: Female

BREED: Mixed Breed

DETAILS: Two years old, gentle, shy, and just waiting for someone to show her that the world can be a safe and loving place.

Behind her beautiful, slightly sad eyes is the sweetest girl who simply needs someone to believe in her.

Pyla was found in an abandoned house, where kind local people fed her for a long time. She never left the place, and eventually they asked a shelter to take her in.

Despite everything she has been through, Pyla remains a wonderfully gentle soul.

Two years old and good with other dogs.

Sweet and friendly with people, although naturally shy and reserved.

Calm on the lead — she doesn’t pull or jerk.

Loves cosy little hiding places where she can curl up and sleep peacefully.

Very fond of food and treats, which are a wonderful way to earn her trust!

She hasn’t been tested with cats yet, but this can be arranged for a serious potential adopter.

Pyla is not the kind of dog who will confidently charge into a new home and settle straight away. She needs time to understand that she is safe.

Familiar places help her feel more confident, but unfamiliar surroundings can frighten her. When she feels overwhelmed, she may want to turn back to the shelter or lie down because she simply doesn’t feel ready to go any further.

She needs a calm, patient and affectionate person who will let her find her feet at her own pace. Someone who understands that trust cannot be rushed, that little steps forward are worth celebrating, and that sometimes the most important thing you can give a dog is simply time.

At the shelter, Pyla has a very special friend — Oshi, a Malinois who shares her kennel. She is deeply attached to him and is always happy to return to his side. When people approach their kennel, she comes out to greet them with a wagging tail, hoping for a treat. 🥹❤️

There is a loving, happy little dog in there. She just needs the right person to help her feel brave enough to let her shine.

What home would suit Pyla?

Pyla would thrive in a calm, secure home with someone who has the patience to help a shy dog settle in. She needs gentle encouragement, a predictable routine, a safe place to retreat to, and a person who will never expect too much too soon.

In return, you could give her something she may never truly have had: the chance to feel safe, to sleep peacefully in her own bed, to enjoy her meals without worry, and to know that her person will always come back for her.

Please don’t overlook Pyla because she is shy. She may not be the boldest dog at the shelter, but she has so much potential to blossom in the right hands.

Let’s help Pyla leave the shelter behind and discover what it feels like to truly belong.

Pyla is currently in Cyprus and will come to the UK when she has a home. £720 adoption fee and home check will apply.
